DAY 6: NATURE & CULTURE – International Poetry Film Fest

Join us for the 4th Annual Copenhagen International Poetry Film Festival, celebrating the intricate relationship between nature and culture through the cinematic lens. This cultural showcase takes place live at Empire Bio, Copenhagen, on Sunday, October 13th, starting at 11:00 AM and concluding at 10:00 PM. This year’s live festival features a compelling selection of 25 films from over 15 countries, delving into the poetics of nature and culture. The festival draws on a rich tapestry of grassroots filmmaking, presenting global perspectives and vital insights that deepen our understanding of the human condition.

Event Highlights:

  • La Sopa: Kick off the festival with a family-friendly one-hour microfestival providing a taste of the day’s offerings.
  • Live Poetry Performances: Experience the power of spoken word with live readings by acclaimed poets including Colm I Kiernan, Anna Valdis Kro, Karl Larrson, and Lalo Barrubia, and the festival’s MCing by Dominic Williams, accompanied by Patrick Horner and Elizabeth Torres, poets and co-directors of the festival.
  • Director Talks: Engage with filmmakers such as Daniel Malpikka (FIN/MX) introducing his film ‘K’UX’, Stephen James Smith (Ireland) introducing Russian Fruit, and a live discussion between Lars Movin (DK) and Magnus Grehn (SE) on Movin’s documentary about William S. Burroughs.
  • Film Showcases: Enjoy a diverse lineup of poetry films, shorts, animations, and experimental pieces, followed by four insightful documentaries. Featured directors like Caroline Claude, Paula Alves, and Grave Wilentz will introduce their works, enhancing the viewing experience.

The festival also serves as the finale to the RESONANS Fringe Festival, which occurs in Nørrebro from October 8-13.
